Remo Stars set Champions League target ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns showdown

The Nigeria Premier Football League champions comfortably saw off Comoros side Zilimadjou 5-0 over two legs in their First preliminary round qualifier.

They, however, face a far sterner test in their Second qualifier against as they take on South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns

Their first leg takes place at the M.K.O. Abiola International Stadium on Sunday, and speaking ahead of the encounter, Conde revealed that Stars have ambitions of reachingthe knockout stages - for the first time.

He said on iDiski Times: "Obviously it is a big challenge for us, it is a privilege to play against a team like Mamelodi Sundowns of course the story they have in this competition is bigger compared to Remo Stars but we prepared for these two games, and we want to go where we've never been and our main focus is this; we want to do what we've never done, to win, to go the group stages to play in the next phase of the competition that's our focus."

The Sky Blue Stars come into this game after a mixed start to their domestic season that includes three losses from their first seven games.

"Is it difficult? Of course, but it's difficult for them as well because it's 11 against 11 and a game of two legs. Our plan and organisation is for these two games and to win the two games go to the next phase of the competition." explained Conde.
