Black Leopards owner slams Irvin Khoza as "dictator" of South African football

Thidiela's frustration stems from the PSL's handling of Lidoda Duvha's acquisition of All Stars FC following their relegation from the Motsepe Championship in 2023. After taking over All Stars' debts, Black Leopards struggled to pay players, resulting in a temporary FIFA ban.

Thidiela claims he was never formally notified of the ban, which left him confused and forced the club to field makeshift lineups, including former Amajita defender Thendo Mukumela in goal. He is now calling for the first four league matches of the season to be replayed.

Beyond administrative issues, Thidiela criticizes Khoza, affectionately known as the "Iron Duke" for holding dual roles as PSL chairman and Orlando Pirates chairman - a position he has held for 23 years - calling it a clear conflict of interest.

He also targeted Golden Arrows boss Mato Madlala, who has served as acting PSL CEO for the past decade. Thidiela alleges that Khoza wields more influence than South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, branding him a "dictator" who expects unconditional compliance.

"Irvin and I don't see eye to eye. Ever since I joined football, he has suspended me, questioned me, and tried to push me out. I'm not a yes-man; I work for what I have," Thidiela said on Radio 2000.

He recalled a meeting at the deputy president's residence in 2024 where Khoza was also present, noting that promised follow-ups with the sports ministry never materialized.

Thidiela said he has since sought clarity from SAFA, confirming that while Black Leopards were under investigation, the club was not banned from the transfer market.

"I'm used to being my own person, and I don't beg anyone. This league is run by Irvin Khoza alone. His word is final. Either you toe the line, or you're out - and I won't allow that," he declared, adding that he now awaits a response from the Sports Minister regarding his grievances.
