The 26-year-old striker spent nearly a year sidelined with a serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, a setback that tested his patience and mental strength. But after months of rehabilitation, Nguse is finally back in full training and eager to make his mark again for Abafana Bes'thende.
"When I got injured, it came at the wrong time because I was playing well and feeling confident," Nguse recalled, as quoted by Sportswire.
"But I had to accept what happened, stay positive, and trust the process. The support from my family and teammates really carried me through."
Nguse, who joined Arrows in July 2023, last featured in October last year and admits being away from the game gave him a new perspective.
"You don't realise how much you love football until it's taken away. Now every training session feels like a blessing. I just want to enjoy the game again and give everything for the team," he said.
Known for his strong build and powerful left foot, Nguse has previously drawn comparisons to Collins Mbesuma, one of the PSL's most lethal finishers.
But the striker insists he's focused on writing his own story - one built on hard work and perseverance, despite the competition from Junior Dion, who is currently Arrow's first choice striker.
"I'm not trying to be anyone else. I just want to reach my full potential. My time will come," he added.
"Competition is healthy. It keeps us all sharp. I'm back now, and I'm ready to fight for my place."
