According to various media reports, Sam had been training with the Eastern Cape based side for a number of weeks after having parted ways with Amakhosi at the end of last season without playing a match.
He is reportedly set to join bottom of the table Chilli Boys on a short term deal, as new coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi attempts to move them off the foot of the Betway Premiership.
The 28-year-old spent a long time out on the sidelines following an injury picked up in the 2024/25 pre-season tour in Turkey under former Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi.
Remarkably, Sam has previously played for four PSL teams that do not exist anymore, with Swallows, Highlands Park and Bloemfontein Celtic all selling their top-flight statuses whilst Maritzburg United changed to Durban City.
He has made 88 appearances in the top-flight division, scoring five goals and providing four assists.
