He revealed that the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly attacker has been given an opportunity to train with the club as he searches for a fresh start.
Mahlambi, once considered one of South Africa's brightest attacking prospects, has been without a team since 2021 following a short stint at Chippa United. Years of off-field challenges have overshadowed his ability, but Beganovic says he sees a player worth investing time in.
"We made a decision to take him and train with us," the coach was quoted by FARPost.
"Everybody deserves a chance, and I think that guy is a good human being. I watched his clips when he played for Wits and Sundowns - he's an amazing player with amazing skills."
Beganovic stressed that the decision was made with the full backing of club president Tim Sukazi, who agreed that Mahlambi's potential merited another shot at the top flight.
The 28-year-old is also the brother of current Galaxy standout Seluleko Mahlambi, who has been one of the team's best performers this season.
The Rockets have enjoyed a strong start to the 2025/26 Betway Premiership campaign, collecting 16 points from 11 matches and sitting eighth on the table.
As they prepare for their next fixture against Golden Arrows at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday, Mahlambi continues to train with the squad - but a contract is far from guaranteed.
"We are trying to push him and put him back into the business," Beganovic said.
"He deserves a second chance. I'm happy to have an opportunity to maybe do that - but it's on him. He needs to push and improve."
The coach added that Mahlambi has shown encouraging signs since joining training.
"I saw him in the last sessions; he's trying to push himself," Beganovic said, suggesting the door remains open for a possible return to the PSL for Mahlambi.
